In 2015, Jorge moved to the United States to further develop both his professional and martial arts careers.
Jorge began practicing Chinese martial arts at the age of five under the tutelage of Yunys Zapata, who was the world runner-up in Sanda combat at the time. From a young age, Jorge excelled in combat, empty-hand forms, and weapons, achieving numerous victories in the National Kung Fu Championships in Venezuela. His success led him to become a member of the Venezuelan national team from 1997 to 2012 and later a member of the USA National Team from 2016 to the present.
Throughout his career, Jorge has won many gold medals in various national, South American, Pan American, international, and world championships. Notably, he participated in the World Kung Fu Championships (WKC) held in China in 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2012, representing Venezuela, and in 2017, representing the United States. The WKC, endorsed by the International Wushu Federation (IWUF), is the most prestigious championship for Kung Fu athletes. Jorge has won a total of 12 medals at the WKC, including 3 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze medals. Additionally, he earned the title of “NASKA World Champion” in the Black Belt Chinese Forms and Weapons division at the North American Sport Karate Association (NASKA) circuit in both 2016 and 2017. The NASKA circuit is considered the most prestigious martial arts circuit in the USA.
Jorge currently holds a 3rd-degree black belt and has extensive knowledge in Liu He Tanglanquan (Six Harmonies Mantis), Qixing Tanglanquan (Seven Stars Mantis), Baji, Bagua and Pigua.
Traditional Martial Lineage
In 2007, Jorge was selected as a disciple (Dìzǐ) by his master Yunys Zapata, formally entering the WUTAN lineage of the great master Liu Yun Qiao, a prominent figure in Taiwanese Chinese martial arts. The lineage succession is as follows: Liu Yun Qiao - Tai She Che - Yunys Zapata - Jorge Perez.
This lineage ensures that the teachings he received are authentic traditional Chinese martial arts.
